Relief for KCSE, KJSEA examiners as Gov't pays outstanding marking allowances

The government now says it has
disbursed the balance of allowances owed to examiners who participated in the
marking of the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination
and the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).
In a statement issued on
Thursday, Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba said the payments were made
after the National Treasury released Ksh.1.5 billion on July 7, 2026, to
facilitate the settlement of the outstanding balances.

credited to the respective accounts of the examiners by the

the receipt of Ksh.1.5 billion from the National Treasury on 7th July, 2026,
being the allocation for clearing the balance," said CS Ogamba.
The payment brings to an end
months of uncertainty among thousands of contracted examiners who had been
awaiting the settlement of their dues following the completion of the 2025
national examinations marking exercise.
CS Ogamba commended the examiners
and other contracted professionals for their patience and dedication, saying
their contribution remains critical in safeguarding the quality and credibility
of Kenya's national examinations.
"We commend the examiners and other contracted
professionals for their professionalism, patience and continued commitment to
fostering quality and credibility in our national assessments and
examinations," he said.
