World football governing body FIFA has written to Sports Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohammed asking her to reinstate the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officials who have been thrown out of office.

Sunday night, FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura wrote to Amina, also extending an olive branch to the Kenyan government, for urgent discussions aimed at avoiding further consequences.

"Going forward, without prejudice to the allegations that have been raised and any potential trial for offences that may have been committed, FIFA and CAF are asking you to consider the reinstatement of the FKF Executive Committee as prior thereto," reads part of the letter to Amina, seen by Citizen Digital.

FIFA has warned Kenya will be suspended from all international football activities, asking for a virtual meeting with CS Amina "soonest possible" to "normalise" the situation.

According to Samoura, the caretaker commitee appointed by Amina to run Kenya's football for six months is "illegal" and contrary to FIFA's principle of non-interference of member associations' running football activities.

FIFA's position has been underlined hours before the arraignment of beleaguered FKF boss Nick Mwendwa in court Monday morning.
