Machakos County has completed a second cohort of staff training aimed at improving public service delivery and addressing gaps in governance and financial management.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti said the programme was introduced after identifying weaknesses in key areas such as institutional governance, financial oversight, and service delivery. She noted that strengthening staff capacity is expected to improve efficiency and accountability across county departments.

Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi urged participants to apply the skills acquired, emphasizing the need for integrity and diligence in serving residents.

County Secretary and Head of Public Service Dr. Muya Ndambuki said 800 staff members have so far been trained under the current programme, contributing to more than 4,000 employees trained since 2024. He added that the county aims to have all staff undergo the training within the next year.

Some participants said the training had improved both their professional skills and personal financial management, which they believe could enhance resource management and revenue collection.

The initiative comes amid growing calls for county governments to invest in continuous professional development to strengthen service delivery and accountability.
