PS Omollo assures Linda Mwananchi of security ahead of Homa Bay rally

A day after the Linda Mwananchi coalition claimed that some leaders from Nyanza were planning to mobilize youths to disrupt their rally scheduled for Sunday in Homa Bay, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo says Linda Mwananchi has the right to hold the rally.

Dr Omollo says security agencies have put in place measures to ensure peace and security are maintained and warned that anyone who attempts to disrupt or block the rally will face firm action.

“Whichever political formation they are, everyone has a right to hold a meeting anywhere in the country…” he said.

Omollo, however, urged the organisers and participants to respect the law and maintain peace during the rally.

“The position remains very clear. Everyone has a right to go anywhere, but also they have to respect law and order,” he added.

Omollo warned that any goons used to cause chaos during the rally will face the full force of the law.

“Any political goonship will not be tolerated. As a country, we must have tolerance for different opinions without violence,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Siaya Governor, one of the organisers of the Linda Mwananchi rally in Homa Bay, James Orengo, met supporters of the coalition from Migori and Homa Bay counties.

Orengo says Linda Mwananchi seeks to reclaim the political space once dominated by the ODM party.

“Linda Mwananchi will morph into a political party that will represent what Raila wanted. After KANU, ODM is the next big thing. It has always fielded a presidential candidate, so how is it that there's no candidate in 2027?” Orengo said.

As time ticks towards Sunday, all eyes are now on the rally and how it will unfold this Sunday.

The assurance comes a day after Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has accused Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, her Migori counterpart Ochilo Ayacko and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma of allegedly plotting to disrupt the Linda Mwananchi caravan's rally in Homa Bay County on Sunday.

The Linda Mwananchi movement also raised the alarm over what it claimed is a plan to disrupt the rally.

They accused some Nyanza leaders of allegedly holding secret meetings to mobilise goons and arm them ahead of the rally.
