Protests in Mwiki after 18-year-old girl raped, stabbed five times

An 18-year-old girl, Abigael Wina Wanjiku, was raped and brutally murdered on Thursday night in Mwiki – Phase 3.

She sustained multiple stab wounds and head injuries in what residents are calling a horrific and heartless attack.

According to Kasarani Sub-county Criminal Investigative Officer (SCCIO), Abigael was stabbed five times in the stomach and once in the neck using a knife that was recovered at the scene.

She was also hit on the head with a blunt object, suspected to be a cooking pan, which was found at the crime scene too.

Following the incident, residents took to the streets in protest, blocking roads and demanding justice.

Detectives have launched investigations to trace those behind the murder, while the victim’s body was moved to Kenyatta University hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
