Grief has struck Ol-Jororok village in Nyandarua County after a grade two learner was allegedly defiled and killed on Friday evening.

It was reported that the deceased minor was walking home from school when she mysteriously went missing, prompting her parents to launch a search in the company of other neighbours.

After concerted efforts from members of the public, they pounced on the lifeless body of the learner in a bush covered with tree branches.

Nyandarua West Sub-County Police Commander Zainab Barasa, who confirmed the incident, said that investigations had been launched to establish the suspects behind the heinous act and ensure they are brought to book.

She noted that investigators were following crucial leads and hence called for patience.

Nyandarua Governor Dr. Kiarie Badilisha is among local leaders who have condemned the incident and called for an urgent probe into the matter.

He said it was painful for such an innocent child to lose life in such a manner. He also condemned the rising cases of child abuse in the region.

He asked parents and teachers to always ensure their children go to school in groups to avert similar incidents.
