President Suluhu takes 90 days off to mourn husband's death

In a statement dated September 8, Chief Secretary Moses Kusiluka said that all government duties will be handled by the Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi and Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba in accordance with the law.
"Further information will be provided by the relevant authorities as necessary," said the Chief Secretary.
Hafidh Ameir, born on January 1, 1946, died on September 7 at 8.00 am while receiving treatment at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar.
VP Ndejembi said the first gentleman was receiving treatment for a heart condition.
He was laid to rest on the same day in Kazimkazi at the family’s home area in southern Zanzibar, South Unguja region.
Regional leaders, among them President William Ruto, have condoled with Tanzania's first family, celebrating the life of the first gentleman.
