President William Ruto’s development tour of the Nyanza region is on the homestretch today as he sets up camp in Kisumu County.
On his final day in Kisumu County, the Head of State, accompanied by his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, unveiled multi-million shilling projects, including the Lake Basin Rice Mill Plant to support rice farmers and an affordable housing project in Lumumba Estate, where 2,300 houses will be built, aiming to employ over 10,000 youths.
Ruto also promised to build 12 markets for traders and a Ksh.3.5 billion rescue center for fisherman to help in emergency cases.
The Head of State would later address crowds at several stop overs including Kondele where he emphasized his commitment to forge a united country and urged the residents of Kisumu to join his agenda.
"Tuungane ama tutengane? Watu wa Kisumu, mimi na nyinyi si wageni. Mnasema baba anisaidie ama asinisaidie ndio niunganishe Kenya ? Tuendelee ama tusiendelee?" Ruto posed.
"Nataka niwahakikishie, hii Kisumu haitawachwa nyuma tena. Tutatembea pamoja mpaka Kenya ibadilike."
Ruto's sentiments were echoed by National Assembly Majority Leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa.
"Kutoka leo, mtu akijaribu kuchezea baba, atapambana na mimi. Rais na baba waendelee waunganishe Kenya," he said.
