President William Ruto is scheduled to deliver his State of the Nation address during a joint sitting of Parliament today, Thursday, November 20, from 2pm.

President Ruto will make his address on the gains made under his leadership, however, under harsh scrutiny over unfulfilled promises since taking office in 2022.

In his third State of the Nation address, President Ruto will focus on the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which has struggled to attain its ambitious goals.

Some of the matters he is expected to elucidate include the Affordable Housing, Hustler Fund, domestic and external debt, Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), and university funding model and policy structuring.

In last year’s address, President Ruto painted a rosy picture of Kenya's state of affairs, particularly highlighting strides in food security.

He underscored various milestones in food production, one of his administration's key agendas.

While some of the figures he cited aligned with official data, others were inconsistent when compared to the 2024 Economic Survey Report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), the official government data source.

Citizen TV did a detailed fact check on the matter.

This year, he has maintained a firm mission of ensuring that affordable homes have been constructed and awarded to Kenyans, being one of the most notable achievements of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Education has, however been dogged by poor capitation, crippling seamless learning and a similar crisis has been experienced in the health sector as health officers have conducted strikes and SHIF has been marred with irregularities.
