President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday witnessed the swearing-in of the newly-appointed Kenya Army Commander, Lt. General Peter Mbogo Njiru, who previously served as his aide-de-camp (ADC).

Lt. Gen Mbogo will replace Lt.Gen Walter Koipaton who has retired after a four-year term of service.

The swearing-in ceremony held at State House Nakuru, was attended by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) top brass led by Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Robert Kibochi.

Also present were Head of Public Service Dr. Joseph Kinyua who conducted the function, Kenya Air Force Commander Maj. General John Omenda, Kenya Navy Commander Maj. General Jimson Mutai as well as Cabinet Secretaries Eugene Wamalwa (Defence) and Ukur Yatani (National Treasury).

Gen. Mbogo's swearing in comes after President Kenyatta promoted 22 senior military officers and appointed some of them to new positions.

The event also doubled up as the investiture ceremony for the recently promoted Brigadier Zipporah Kalondu Kioko and Brigadier Alice Muringo Mate.

President Kenyatta commended the newly promoted KDF senior officers and wished them success in their new positions.
