French authorities will carry out a post-mortem following the death of Irish rugby legend Anthony Foley in a Paris hotel, a source close to the probe said Monday.
No trace of injury has been found on the body of the former Irish international who died suddenly on Sunday at the age of 42 and investigators found no indication that the door to his hotel room had been forced, the source said
“A post-mortem has been ordered” said the source who asked not to be named, adding that it was uncertain whether it would be carried out Monday.
“Investigators have asked for toxicology tests,” the source added.
A police investigation is underway into the death of Foley, the head coach of Munster, the Irish provincial team who were to play French club Racing 92 later Sunday.
The European Champions Cup match was postponed.
An investigation is routine in France following deaths in hotel rooms and a post-mortem is called for when the cause of death is not apparent.
