Police Bullets stopped by Kawempe Muslim in Cecafa final

Kenya Police Bullets dream of qualifying for the first time in the Caf Womens Champions League was shuttered on Monday after loosing 1-0 to Uganda's Kawempe Muslim Ladies in the fainal match of the 2026 Caf Women Champions League Cecefa Quallifiers at Pele Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda.

The crucial goal was scored by Captain Agnes Nabukenya in the first half of the extra time (100 minute ) to send Kawempe in their first ever Caf Womens Champions League.

It was a very fiercy encounter which saw both side sharing spoils in normal time following a golaess draw, which forced more 30 minutes of the extra time to determine the champion.

Kawembe has had a great journey in the regional tournament as they kicked off group B fixtures with a 1-0 win against Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) before flooring Ujeco from Djibouti 8-0 then proceeded to win their semi fainali by 3-0 against CBE Ethiopia.

This is the third time Police Bullets have failed to qualify for the Caf Champions League.

They finished as runners-up in 2024 before  qualifying for the knockout stage and later eliminated at the semi-final stage in 2025.

 In the 2026 campaign, the law enforcers kicked off their campaign with a statement 2-1 victory over Tanzanian powerhouses Simba Queens the later cruised into the last four following a convincing 3-1 victory over Burundian giants Top Girls Academy in their final group-stage match on Wednesday, August 27.

They stormed to the fainal following a 5-0 win against South Sudanese giants Yei Joint Stars.

CBE FC won the third-place playoff match by defeating Yei Joint Stars FC 6-1 earlier in Monday.

The final tournament venue and host country for the main 2026 CAF Women's Champions League have not yet been officially announced by the Confederarion of Afrian Football (CAF)
