Owoko ready to lead Soy United's rebuilding journey

Newly appointed Soy United head coach George Owoko has expressed confidence in his ability to guide the club to positive results as he begins his tenure in the National Super League (NSL).

‎Owoko has taken charge with the immediate task of moulding the team into a competitive outfit while navigating the demands of a league he knows well.

‎Speaking to Citizen Digital, the experienced tactician acknowledges that the NSL presents a difficult challenge, but he is determined to make the most of the resources at his disposal and help Soy United achieve its targets.

‎"I know there is a lot of work ahead but I am prepared for the challenge. I plan to work training and winning mentality after building a strong squad, I cannot talk about promotion because I'm a new coach here, but I will focus on promoting discipline to drive positive results," he said.

‎Owoko brings considerable experience of the competition, having previously handled Homegrown during the 2009/10 season, when he guided the side to a third-place finish.

‎His coaching career has also included spells at Nairobi Stima and Vihiga United, giving him an understanding of the challenges involved in managing teams competing at this level.

‎Rather than immediately reshaping the squad through the transfer market, Owoko has opted to work with the players he inherited.

‎The coach has not made any new signings so far, a decision that reflects his belief that the existing squad has enough quality to produce the desired results.

‎"I did not sign any player, I will work with the current squad and I believe they are up to the task and will give me results," he added.

‎Owoko's approach will therefore centre on improving the team from within, using his experience to strengthen the players and establish a clear playing identity.

‎With the NSL known for its competitive nature, Soy United will be hoping Owoko's familiarity with the league can help the club navigate the season successfully.
