Speaking on Citizen TV’s Sunday Live, the former Senator disputed assumptions that he has fallen out of favour with party leader Rigathi Gachagua.
“It is only an inferior mind which can feel that (sidelined) I think I am too superior for that,” Malala told Jeff Koinange.
“I am among the founding members of DCP. This is my party, the first that I founded.”
Malala also denied claims that Nyandarua Senator John Methu, an acting DCP Secretary General, was put in charge when Gachagua travelled to the United States recently.
According to the former Senator, Methu has mainly been tasked with mobilisation of DCP activities, especially in the Mt Kenya region.
“What business will I be doing mobilising people in Karatina? I think Methu has a better sense of occasion to mobilise people in Karatina,” Malala posed.
Malala downplayed Methu’s perceived influence, saying he is just ‘in charge of the Mountain.’
“We had to assign Methu to keep the mountain warm. And he did a very good job,” said Malala.
The DCP deputy leader also downplayed assumptions that DCP is a Mt Kenya party, saying the region was just a stronghold that it uses to build its foundation. Malala cited the by-elections that the party has won beyond Mt Kenya region.
“Our influence is growing day by day in the Maasai community and even in Kipsigis land,” he argued.
