One killed, others injured in Transmara clashes

A middle-aged man has been confirmed dead, with scores of others nursing life-threatening injuries in various hospitals across Kilgoris, Migori and Kisii Counties, following fresh clashes along the Nkaararo–Enoretet border in Transmara, Narok County.
The clashes have entered their third day.
According to the Kilgoris Deputy County Commissioner, Chuck Masua, who spoke to Citizen TV via phone, investigations have been launched into the clashes, as a security operation gets underway along the volatile border.
But some of the victims receiving treatment at various hospitals have accused the government of failing to act decisively to end the perennial land feud pitting the Irwashi Nkishu and Isiria communities.
They say the latest violence is a grim reminder of the urgency to resolve the longstanding dispute before more lives are lost.
