Controversy is looming in Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Butere branch after a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) and an MP opened parallel party offices.

Marama West MCA, Habil Nanjendo, opened a new branch office on Wednesday, December 21, just a day before area Member of Parliament, Andrew Toboso, opens one in Butere Sub-County.

The MCA said his decision was informed by the arrogance and favouritism exhibited by the current leadership.

Nanjendo, who is eyeing the Butere Parliamentary seat in the 2017 elections, expressed confidence that his new office would bring fairness and unity in the party especially during the nomination process.

Party leader, Raila Odinga, was expected to officially open party offices in the area during his trip to Kakamega County but failed to show up.
