ODM leaders vow to protect party positions in UDA coalition talks

Leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) say they will not allow the loss of any positions the party holds in coalition talks with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking at a funeral service in Siaya County, the leaders, led by National Chairperson Gladys Wanga, rallied support for party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga, reiterating the need to strengthen ODM structures at the grassroots to solidify the political outfit’s bargaining power ahead of the next general election.

Wanga also used the platform to urge young people to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which is currently conducting a 30-day nationwide drive.

“Tutaingia kama equal partners because ODM is the largest party in South of Sahara and North of Limpopo. We have party members from Vanga in Kwale upto Todonyang, Turkana and so we will be negotiating as equal partners since we must retain our seats,” she said.

Kakamega Governor Fernandez Barasa added, “Kakamega and Western is locked in ODM and I have the keys. We are ready to protect the ODM party.”
