This is in a bid to reinforce the squad ahead of the new football season.
With the new shirt sponsor Nzoia Sugar Company 2025 solidly behind the team, the star of the Sugar Millers, which had seemed to fade owing to financial constraints could shine once again in the upcoming season and turn the fortunes around at Sudi Stadium.
Nzoia Sugar FC recorded mass exodus of their first team players last season, a scenario that left the team on the brink of relegation as the youthful squad struggled to remain afloat in the NSL last season.
As the club hopes of returning to the top-tier league, plans are underway to sign additional players that will add depth to the Bungoma-based football outfit.
This is according to the team’s head coach Odero, who revealed that their current sponsor, RAI, has assured them of support — similar to what it offers the Kabras RFC.
"Last season we struggled because of financial issues, our players were having trouble off the pitch because they could not pay their bills on time, most had rent issues. We also issued out walkovers due to ill equipped ambulances at some point in the season," he told Citizen Digital.
After participating in the NSL last season and finishing in 13th place, Nzoia is now preparing to perform better in the upcoming season, backed by sponsorship from the Nzoia Sugar Company in 2025.
"The sponsor has good will, we have been assured of support to stabilize the team because they want to elevate the status of the football just as that of the rugby side (Kabras Sugar RFC)."
Odero added that with RAI committing to stand with Nzoia Sugar FC, the team will have financial muscles to make important additions to the existing squad.
