Nyandarua County Senator Mwangi Githiomi has decamped to the Deputy President William Ruto led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ahead of the August General Election.

DP Ruto made the announcement on Friday as he received the legislator ahead of a campaign tour in Nyandarau.

"Growing bigger and better. Welcoming Nyandarua Senator Hon. Mwangi Githiomi to the Hustler Nation," Ruto wrote on his Facebook page.

Githiomi was welcomed by the DP and a host of other leaders among them Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata, MPs Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) and Kimani Ichung'wa (Kikuyu).

Before joining UDA, Githiomi was formerly a member of the Jubilee party.

The move comes just as the Jubilee party holds its National Delegates Convention on Friday at the KICC.

Ruto is set to pitch his camp in the county where he will traverse Kinangop, Olkalou, Oljoorok and Ndaragwa constituencies.
