National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has revoked public service vehicle operator licenses for three matatu Saccos.

The three include Kidatho Sacco, Silker Agencies and Giwa Sacco.

Through a Press release dated August 24, NTSA said the deregistered failed to comply with requirements stipulated in the operations of public service vehicles regulations.

“The Authority hereby invokes powers granted by section 34 of the NTSA Act and deregisters the operator licences,” the statement reads.

In January, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered that all NTSA officers be withdrawn from Kenyan roads.

The directive followed increased carnage on the road with President Kenyatta adding that traffic officers take over all duties that were allocated to NTSA.
Services they offer at the moment, according to their website include issuance of number plates, vehicle log books, driving licenses and booking of motor vehicle inspection.
Others include licensing of motor vehicles as well as legal, ICT and audit services.
