According to an official communication, the changes are aimed at strengthening operations and enhancing efficiency within specialized units of the National Police Service.
Leading the changes is Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Johana Kiplangat Tonui, who has been moved from the Kenya Police Service Directorate of Operations to become the new Commandant of the General Service Unit (GSU), one of the country's premier security formations.
In a related move, Assistant Inspector General Fredrick Egesa Nyongesa has been transferred from the GSU to serve as the unit's Deputy Commandant.
The reshuffle also affects the service's internal oversight structures. Assistant Inspector General Paul Maingo Mumo has been redeployed from the Directorate of Quality Assurance to take over as Director of the Internal Affairs Unit, the body responsible for investigating misconduct within the police service.
The official dispatch, addressed to Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat, states that the appointments are intended to optimize operational effectiveness across key departments.
The changes take effect immediately.
