“If there is anyone who has made hate speech, then the number one person in Kenya is Rigathi Gachagua. He has never apologized for it. You can even insult me on social media if you want,” said Duale.
Speaking in Garissa, Duale accused NCIC of double standards when it comes to cracking down of leaders accused of hate speech, claiming that the commission is hard on government officials on the very utterances that the commission lets the opposition leaders get away with.
“So, summon me together with Rigathi Gachagua. In fact, he should go in first and be questioned, and only then should I, as a Cabinet Secretary, be questioned. If you do not bring Rigathi Gachagua over the insults he directed at the Somali community and Muslims, I will not even acknowledge your letter. And I will not comply,” said Duale.
The CS claimed the DCP leader has been uttering hateful statements over time yet the commission was turning a blind eye on them.
He insisted that will not apologise to anyone regarding his utterances he made in Mandera County but instead unite his community to support the government.
On Fiday, NCIC said it had launched investigations into alleged ethnic incitement by Duale following a formal complaint over the alleged utterances made in Mandera.
