Newly appointed Kenya Triathlon head coach, Camilla Lydia, has pledged to establish a strong development and training structure for all national teams in a bid to grow the sport in the country.

Speaking after her appointment, Camilla the only World Triathlon Level 2 certified coach in East Africa said nurturing young talent will be a key priority, alongside improving Kenya’s performance on the international stage.

"First of all I am grateful to the federation for the opportunity and trust to serve as the head coach of Triathlon Kenya and I see it as a responsibility to help and grow the sports among the youths," said Camilla.

She noted that she plans to work closely with individual athletes to monitor their progress and support their development ahead of a busy 2026 competition calendar.

"This year my focus is to develop strong training structures, developing young talents and helping our athletes become competitive regionally and internationally," she added.

Camilla also led Kenya Junior Triathlon team in the Africa Triathlon Junior Cup held in El Galala, Egypt in February.

In addition to local and regional championships, the national triathlon team will also begin preparations for the Youth Olympic Games set to take place later this year in Dakar, Senegal.
