Court tightens rules for virtual attendance of Ojwang murder trial

Justice Diana Kavedza on Wednesday ordered the removal of unidentified participants from the online court session.

Kavedza noted that a large number of people had joined the virtual proceedings and raised concerns over the identities of some attendees.

"We don't want people spying on our courts," said the judge.

The judge directed the court assistant to conduct a roll call, requiring every participant to identify themselves.

The judge emphasized that the court would not permit unidentified individuals to remain in the virtual courtroom, stating that the judiciary must guard against people "spying on our courts."

Another participant who failed to respond despite repeated calls was subsequently removed from the online session on the judge's orders.

Justice Kavedza said the stricter measures were intended to safeguard witnesses and preserve the integrity of the proceedings.
