Emurua Dikirr MP Nelson Koech has constructed a house for the family of Amos Kipngetich, one of the victims of the helicopter crash that claimed the life of former area MP Johana Ngeno and five others in February.

The house, located in Soget, Emurua Dikirr Constituency, was handed over during a prayer and dedication ceremony attended by the family and local leaders.

"Today, we gathered in prayer and dedication of a house we constructed for Mama Nancy in honour of her late son, Amos Kipngetich, who tragically lost his life alongside Hon. Johanna Ngeno in the fateful helicopter crash," Koech said.

"The house stands as a lasting tribute to Amos' memory and a symbol of our continued support and solidarity with the family."

The helicopter crash occurred on February 28 in Mosop, Nandi County.

The chopper went down at about 4.45pm near Chepkieb Forest, moments after attempting to take off from a makeshift landing site, following what witnesses described as poor visibility caused by ongoing rains.

According to residents, the aircraft had earlier made an emergency landing at around 4pm as weather conditions deteriorated.

The pilot is said to have briefly engaged herders near the site while assessing the situation before attempting to lift off again.

The helicopter crashed into trees a few metres away at the edge of the forest and burst into flames, killing all six people on board.

Nandi County Police Commander Samuel Mukuusi confirmed the incident at the time, stating that investigations were ongoing. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrived at the scene and began inquiries into the cause of the crash.

Koech prayed that the souls of Amos Kipngetich, Johana Ngeno and the other crew members continue resting in peace.
