Nairobi County football team drew 1-1 with their Samburu counterparts on opening day of the Inter-county Competition, KICOSCA, Games on Monday in Kericho County.
Cyprus Oloo tapped in a cross from Oliver Sambo to put Nairobi County upfront in the 60th minute, before Jonothan Wasinale equalized 10 minutes later to force a draw.
Nairobi were lively early on with George Sunguti and Oloo enjoying plenty of ball supply but were unable to take their chances.
Samburu threatened with a counter-attack in the 20th minute and should have broken the deadlock had Shukri Abdalla applied a simple tap on James Lelesebi’s cross.
Nairobi almost went 1-0 up in the last minute of the first-half but woodwork denied Vincent Otieno a chance to net a perfectly placed free-kick.
It ended all-square at the half-time whistle and all teams kept knocking in the second half, Nairobi’s Omiti Meshack failing to beat the shot-stopper in a one-on-one challenge placing a long pass which effortlessly landed on the hands of Boniface Lekokoine.
Nairobi survived a downfall after William Lapirie unleashed a powerful shot which missed the goal by an inch.
The game spangled after the two times levelled at 1-1 both teams battling to net the winning goal in vain, Patrick Otieno missing a chance to score the winning goal for Nairobi in the last minute after widely tapping a nice cross from Omiti Meshack.
