Preparations for the 2026 Nairobi International Trade Fair have reached 99 per cent, with organisers and security agencies completing final arrangements ahead of the week-long event.
The fair is scheduled to take
place from September 28 to October 4, 2026, at the Jamhuri Park Showground in
Nairobi.
More than 500 exhibitors are
expected to participate in the event, which will bring together businesses,
government agencies, research institutions, financial service providers,
manufacturers, technology companies and consumers.
Speaking during a media briefing
on Thursday, Nairobi Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Branch Chairperson
Levi Mukhweso said the final preparations were underway to ensure the
successful hosting of the fair.
“We are about 99 per cent
prepared for the show,” Mukhweso said.
Mukhweso said the event will showcase
new technologies and innovations while providing visitors with opportunities to
learn about modern agricultural practices.
“The technologies being exhibited
are things you don't want to miss. There will be a lot of innovation and a lot
to learn from both local and international exhibitors. Apart from the
exhibition, we also have trainings that will go on about modern farming,” he
said.
Nairobi Deputy County Commissioner for Kibera Sub-County
Victor Kamonde assured the public that security agencies were ready to manage
the crowds expected at the showground.
Kamonde said security officers
would be deployed throughout the venue to safeguard visitors and exhibitors and
respond to incidents, including petty theft.
“Securitywise, we are ready for
the show. We have moved around and we assure Kenyans that we are well prepared
for the big event. We will have a good number of security officers on the
showground. We are prepared to secure very many people,” he said.
Kamonde and Mukhweso inspected
the showground on Thursday to assess infrastructure, drainage systems and
security arrangements ahead of the event.
Authorities also inspected
drainage and water channels in preparation for possible heavy rainfall during
the fair.
“About the possibility of El Nino
rains, we have gone round and from what I have seen we are ensuring all
drainages and water channels are opened in case of excess rainwater during the
show,” Kamonde said.
He urged Nairobi residents to
avoid disaster-prone areas in the event of heavy rains.
The 2026 Nairobi International Trade Fair will feature
exhibitions, product demonstrations, training sessions and business engagements
across various sectors.
According to the organisers, the
fair will also include the Business Nexus and Technology Showcase, which will
provide opportunities for product launches, supplier engagements, business
meetings and discussions between exhibitors and institutional buyers.
The event will cover agriculture,
finance, insurance, logistics, manufacturing, energy, education, research and
technology, among other sectors.
