Musingu Boys are looking to reclaim the handball title during the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Games scheduled for April 7-11, 2026 in Kisumu.

The title has eluded the Kakamega-based school for the past 15 years and head coach Caleb Simiyu is keen on restoring the glory.

“We are going to fight for the title that we’ve been missing since 2011. The boys are hungry and determined to win and eventually play at the East African stage,” Simiyu told Citizen Digital.

“We bear the Western region flag and we are going to make them proud. We believe in our abilities,” he added.

Musingu surprised many after dethroning the reigning national and East African champions St. Luke's Kimilili by thrashing them 20-14 in the Western region final staged last month at Ivona Secondary School.

Simiyu warned that the statement win could send a strong signal to opponents to be wary of them, urging his boys to be vigilant.

“We beat the FEASSSA champions and everyone will approach us differently knowing the threat we possess. We have to be on top of our game to get the edge.”

Simiyu said the team has had intense preparations and is ready for the national extravaganza with injured players recovering in time for the competition.

“We have been having vigorous training accompanied by friendlies to be in the best shape possible for the competition. We had minor injuries which have healed and the boys are ready,” Simiyu said.

The eight-time national champions are pooled in Group B alongside hosts St. Mary’s Yala, Rift Valley’s St. Josephs Boys Kitale and Kenyatta Secondary from the Coast.

Pool A consists of last year’s runner’s up Highway, Eastern region’s St. Austin Matuu Secondary School and Central region’s giants Handege.
