Women have been urged to play a greater role in addressing poverty by supporting initiatives that promote education, improve livelihoods and strengthen the economic resilience of vulnerable families.

The appeal was made during an International Women's Day charity event organised by Mombasa Relief Global Initiative (MRGI), where the organisation outlined plans to expand its education, nutrition and women's empowerment programmes across Kenya's Coast region.

MRGI  projects, including poultry and dairy farming, to help schools improve sustainability and strengthen community resilience.

Facen said the organisation was seeking partnerships with corporate organisations, philanthropists and development agencies to expand its programmes and reach more vulnerable children and families.
