Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA FC) have been forced into a late change of plans ahead of their crucial FKF National Super League Round 19 fixture against 3K FC, with the promotion-chasing side confirming a change of venue for Saturday’s encounter.
The White Rhinos will now host 3K FC at Mumboha Stadium in Luanda, with kick-off remaining at 3.00 PM, after the originally scheduled venue, Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo, was booked for a Presidential function over the weekend.
The club described the move as unavoidable, noting that efforts to secure an alternative venue within the Nyanza region were unsuccessful due to time constraints and logistical challenges, including the visitors’ confirmed accommodation within Kisumu County.
MOFA apologised to their supporters for the inconvenience caused by the late switch and reassured fans that the relocation is temporary. The club confirmed they will return to a venue closer to home immediately after this weekend’s match.
For supporters unable to make the trip to Luanda, the fixture will be streamed live on MOFA TV, ensuring fans do not miss a moment of the action.
The venue change comes at a critical time in MOFA’s season. The White Rhinos currently sit third on the National Super League table with 32 points and are firmly in the race for automatic promotion to the top flight.
They trail leaders Migori Youth by four points and are just two behind second-placed Mombasa United, making Saturday’s fixture a must-win as the promotion race tightens.
Elsewhere in Round 19, Nairobi City Stars will host Naivas FC, while Equity Bank FC take on Nzoia Sugar in another key Saturday clash. Darajani Gogo will face FC Talanta as teams continue to jostle for position in the standings.
Sunday’s action will be highlighted by Soy United’s home tie against league leaders Migori Youth at the Eldoret Showgrounds, with the hosts hoping to maintain their strong home record.
Mombasa United travel to Kabati Youth, Luanda Villa host Fortune Sacco, Vihiga United meet Kibera Black Stars, and Kisumu Allstars take on Mwatate United.
With promotion ambitions and survival battles intensifying, Round 19 promises a weekend of high-stakes football across the country.
