From the outside, bodybuilding is often equated to aesthetics — intense workouts, toned physique and sweat.
But for women, the body building journey runs far deeper, demanding sacrifice, discipline and a fortified mental strength that runs beyond the gym.
Miss Ajuma opened up to Citizen Digital about the physical and emotional demands of bodybuilding to a woman.
Between training drills and sets, she spoke about the mindset needed to remain consistent in a space where progress is often as slow as snail, yet demanding and deeply personal.
For Miss Ajuma, strength means “defying the odds” — a mantra she says has reshaped not just her body, but also her life.
Beyond building muscle, she noted that training has helped to improve her mental wellness, helping her to have a good sleep, her confidence and a positive mindset.
Ajuma spoke about the unique realities girls face in fitness and bodybuilding journey, noting how hormonal differences affect muscle growth and recovery compared to men.
She revealed that at one point she dropped to nearly 50 kilograms just to meet stage requirements.
At the moment she prioritises strength, muscle growth, and overall wellness over simply achieving a lighter weight.
“At the moment I am focused on sustainable fitness and empowerment,” says Ajuma – noting that bodybuilding should be more than physical transformation alone.
