Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya received the award alongside Principal Secretary for Defence Dr. Patrick Mariru and the Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics Major General Peter Limo from President William Ruto during the inaugural National Productivity and Performance Conference held at the Kenya School of Government.
According to the evaluation, the Ministry was recognised for improvements in institutional efficiency, accountability, service delivery and the implementation of results-based management under the national performance contracting framework.
Speaking after receiving the award, Tuya said the recognition reflected the Ministry's efforts to strengthen institutional performance and support government development objectives.
"This recognition affirms the Ministry of Defence’s outstanding performance in advancing Government priorities through strengthened institutional efficiency, enhanced service delivery, accountability, and the institutionalisation of a results-based approach under the national performance contracting and productivity framework," said CS Tuya.
The conference, organised by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) under the theme "Productivity for Fiscal Sustainability and Efficient Service Delivery," brought together senior government officials and public sector leaders to discuss strategies for improving productivity and public service delivery.
Tuya said the discussions highlighted the role of performance management in enhancing public sector effectiveness and supporting national development.
The Ministry of Defence was also recognised for integrating performance management systems while maintaining operational readiness and fulfilling its core mandate.
Tuya attributed the achievement to the contributions of both Kenya Defence Forces personnel and civilian staff working within the ministry.
The award comes as the government continues to implement reforms aimed at improving efficiency, accountability and service delivery across public institutions.
