Migori Youth docked three points after FKF Appeals Committee ruling

National Super League leaders Migori Youth FC have been docked three points following a ruling by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Appeals Committee, which found that the club fielded an ineligible player during a league match against Kabati Youth.

The decision comes after Kabati Youth FC successfully challenged an earlier determination by the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee regarding the eligibility of player Collins Ouma Otieno (FKF 136438).

The disputed match was played on January 11, 2026, and initially ended with Migori Youth earning a point.

According to the Appeals Committee, the case centered on the player's registration status, whether he had been properly registered, and his eligibility to participate in the fixture.

After reviewing the evidence, the committee concluded that the player's registration had been processed as a new registration rather than a transfer and that the registration was completed outside the authorized registration window.

The committee established that the player was registered on January 5, 2026, and approved on January 8, 2026, before the official opening of the registration window on January 12, 2026. As a result, the player was deemed ineligible for the match against Kabati Youth.

Consequently, the Appeals Committee awarded Kabati Youth FC three points and two goals, overturning the earlier outcome of the case. The ruling could have significant implications for both the promotion race and the relegation battle in the National Super League as the season approaches its conclusion.

In response, Migori Youth FC released an official statement acknowledging the ruling while expressing disagreement with the decision. The club stated that it remains committed to the rule of law and established football dispute-resolution mechanisms and indicated that it would pursue the appropriate legal and regulatory channels to seek redress.

"While we respectfully disagree with the decision, we remain committed to the rule of law and the established dispute-resolution mechanisms within football governance," the club said in part of its statement.

Migori Youth further assured its supporters, partners, and stakeholders that there was no cause for alarm and reiterated its confidence that "truth, clarity, and justice will ultimately prevail."

Despite the setback, the club has maintained its focus on securing promotion to the FKF Premier League, with the title race remaining highly competitive in the closing stages of the campaign.
