The nearly 40 metres' long bridge is anchored on a mixture of giant timber planks and steel which dip into the bedrock of Migori river.
According to residents, the bridge which links the gold-rich region was constructed during the colonial days.
“The bridge has been around for decades. I think it is time we had it expanded to allow two or more vehicles to cross at the same time,” said Cedrick Oloo who regularly uses the bridge.
“The bridge was built to enable movement of people and goods across the river specifically to promote mining activities in Macalder and Nyatike area.
Residents now want the bridge expanded to allow for smooth movement of people and goods in the area.
