Meru School basketball head coach Paul Muli is confident that his team will defend their title as the County Games kicked off on Wednesday at their backyard.

The holders will be without two key players from last year who since have graduated out but Muli believes the team he has assembled is formidable enough to trump all at the competitions that will run from March 6-10.

“We have trained well, my team is intact and well prepared to live up to the expectations   as I target to win both County games and Regional  games,’’ Muli said.

Muli said he expects little competition competition at this stage but picked out the likes Miathene High School and Miruiri High – both who were also outstanding during last year – to push them all the way.

He added their main target for this year is to stamp their authority at the national level and earn the right to represent Kenya in the East African Games.

In other competitions Miathene Boys who are last year’s champions in rugby 15s and Kirigala Girls who are  last year’s basketball champions ladies category, are all set to come out strong in these County Games.

The County  School games will kick off today and end up on 10th Sunday 2019.
