Mathare Women step up preparations ahead of top-tier campaign

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Aluoch said the team has entered its second week of pre-season training and is determined to build the physical fitness, tactical discipline and competitive edge required to compete at the highest level.

The coach acknowledged the demands of the top division, stressing that an early and structured pre-season will be vital if Mathare Women are to make a strong impression in their debut campaign.

"We are into our second week of pre-season. Our plan was to begin preparations two months before the season kicks off, but we started a little later than planned," said Aluoch.

The training programme is centred on improving the players' fitness levels, refining tactical awareness and ensuring the squad is fully prepared before the new season gets underway.

Aluoch also revealed that the club is targeting between five and six high-quality friendly matches as part of its preparations.

The fixtures will give the technical bench an opportunity to assess the squad, improve match sharpness and identify areas that require further attention before the league begins.

They will also allow the newly promoted side to test itself against a range of opponents and gradually adapt to the intensity and demands of top-flight football.

"Our target is to play five to six high-profile friendlies. These matches will help us prepare well for the Premier League," she added.

With expectations rising following the club's promotion, Aluoch believes thorough preparation will be crucial to ensuring Mathare Women are competitive from the outset.

The planned friendly matches are expected to play a key role in the club's build-up to its maiden season in the Kenya Women Premier League as Mathare Women look to establish themselves among the country's elite.
