A middle-aged man was arrested for peddling drugs on Saturday in Mount Kenya University (MKU), Kiambu County.

The man was nabbed with 350 rolls of bhang and tablets of an unknown drug – all estimated to have a street value of Ksh1 million.

Confirming the incident, Thika OCPD Benard Oyoo said the suspect had already sold drugs worth Ksh. 2000 evident from the Ksh.50 and 100 notes found on his person.

The OCPD said that the suspect id also said to be a member of the outlawed Mungiki sect.

Cautioning parents to be vigilant of the children’s whereabouts, Oyoo noted that there have been rampant cases of drug abuse within the county’s learning institutions, a majority involving bhang.

Prior to the arrest MKU management had announced a crackdown on drug peddlers within the institution.
