A 37-year-old man has died after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs while walking home in Gathunguti Village, Kabete, Kiambu County.

The victim, identified as George Kimani, was reportedly found being mauled by the dogs by his cousin, who raised the alarm and called for help.

Neighbours and other good Samaritans rushed to rescue Kimani and take him to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the facility.

Residents said the same pack of stray dogs has been terrorising villages in the area, with several goats and sheep reportedly killed in previous attacks.

The dogs are said to roam the area in a pack, while their owners remain unknown.

Residents are now calling on Kiambu County public health officials to intervene and remove the stray dogs, warning that the animals pose a growing threat to the community.

They are also appealing for rabies vaccines to be made readily available at local health facilities to help prevent possible transmission of the disease following the attack.
