Kenya will once again host top-tier international
golf following the official inclusion of the Magical Kenya Open in the 2027 DP
World Tour global calendar.
The next edition is scheduled to take place from
February 18 to 21, 2027, forming a key early leg of the tour’s global schedule.
Kenya Open Golf Limited (KOGL) director Patrick
Obath highlights the event as a major platform for national visibility, with an
expected global broadcast audience exceeding 600 million viewers.
"This opportunity reaffirms that the Magical
Kenya Open can no longer be defined solely by scores and leaderboards, but by
the value it brings at the intersection of sport, business, culture, tourism,
sustainability, and positioning the country into a global community," said
Obath.
The Magical Kenya Open joined the main European Tour
schedule in 2019, following a long run on the second-tier Challenge Tour from
1991 to 2018
The 2027 DP World Tour features 42 tournaments
across 24 countries as part of the Race to Dubai, highlighted by the return of three
historic national events —the Deutsche Bank Singapore Open, the
Open de Portugal, and the Hong Kong Open.
The schedule also accommodates adjustments ahead of
the 2027 Ryder Cup, which will be held at Adare Manor in Ireland from September
17 to 19, 2027.
"The return of historic national Opens in
Singapore and Portugal means 17 prestigious national Opens will feature on our
2027 global schedule, along with other popular international championships and
events played around the world," said Guy Kinnings, Chief Executive of the
DP World Tour.
"As Golf's Global Tour, we are proud to provide
this unique platform for our members to showcase their talents as they compete
to put their own name alongside some of the iconic champions of our
sport."
The full season will wrap up in November 2027 with
the back-to-back DP World Tour Play-Offs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
