Internal Security Principal Secretary, PS Raymond Omollo, says the preparations for the 2026 Madaraka Day celebrations in Wajir County are 84% complete.

The PS says the government is currently finalising major works before the June 1st celebrations.

In a press address on site, Omollo indicated that the progress was established following an inspection of critical works at key facilities that will support the national celebrations in Wajir County.

According to Omollo, the infrastructure upgrades would be completed by May 25 to provide time for rehearsals, final testing, and logistical preparations for the event.

“We are pleased with the progress made so far. The preparations currently stand at 84 percent, and we expect that by between the 20th and 25th of this month, most of the key works will have been completed,” said the PS.

The government will conduct a thematic week at Wagberi Primary School from May 25 to May 31, 2026, with a focus on education, skills, and the future, a theme aligned with this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations.

President William Ruto is expected to host a state luncheon in Wajir.

Omollo argued that the activities in Wajir are part of the government’s contributions to the development of national integration and the regional distribution of national events in the country.
