Lugari MP Nabwera demands Ksh.20M from blogger for linking him to teacher's murder

Through his lawyers, Danstan Omari & Associates Advocates, Nabwera has filed a defamation suit and a certificate of urgency before the Milimani Chief Magistrates’ Court, seeking orders compelling the blogger to remove all defamatory posts, issue a public apology, and pay damages.

In court papers, Nabwera claims that on October 3, 2025, the blogger, using Facebook pages “Kakamega Post,” “Malava Online,” and “Lugari Watchdog,” published posts insinuating that the MP was involved in the principal’s disappearance and death.

According to the application, the posts described the incident as “vanished after defying an MP” and urged Nabwera to “come clean on the death of this teacher.” 

The legislator says the statements were false, malicious, and intended to portray him as a murderer.

“The publications have rallied unknown people who have threatened to plunder my home in Lugari,” Nabwera claims in his affidavit, adding that the posts were politically motivated and designed to tarnish his reputation as a public leader.

He argues that despite serving a demand letter through his lawyers on November 8, 2025, the blogger had neither responded nor retracted the statements.

Nabwera added that the false claims had sparked incitement online, endangering his family and damaging his reputation.

The MP has attached screenshots of the posts, the demand letter, and messages allegedly calling for attacks on his home. 

He also acknowledged the recovery of the late principal’s body from River Kipkaren, saying he had extended condolences to the family and urged patience as investigations continue.

In his suit, Nabwera seeks a permanent injunction restraining the blogger from making further defamatory publications, an unequivocal public apology, and general damages of Ksh. 20 million for the harm to his image.
