KUCCPS invites students to revise university choices as second application phase begins

In a statement on May 16, 2026, KUCCPS announced that the application portal will remain open until May 22, 2026, following the closure of the first application phase on May 6.

According to KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Mercy Wahome, applicants who secured provisional placement into degree programmes have already been notified through SMS and the KUCCPS portal, while unsuccessful applicants have been invited to revise their choices.

“We call upon all 2025 Form Four leavers who qualified for degree programmes but have not applied for placement, and those who applied but have not secured a course, to log into the system and apply again,” said Dr Wahome.

KUCCPS revealed that 212,510 students who attained a mean grade of C+ and above in the 2025 KCSE examination have so far applied for various programmes. This represents 79.1 per cent of the 268,714 Kenyan candidates who qualified for university admission.

The placement agency noted that several competitive degree programmes, including Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Engineering, were filled during the first application phase due to high demand and limited spaces.

As a result, the programmes have been removed from the application portal.

“We encourage students who applied for these programmes but missed them due to competition to apply for available programmes,” KUCCPS stated.

At the same time, the agency announced that placement to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, Kenya Medical Training College and Kenya Utalii College remains ongoing on a rolling basis until available slots are filled.

Among the available KMTC diploma programmes are Community Health, Mortuary Science, Health Records and Information Technology, Medical Engineering, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy and Public Health. Eight certificate courses are also available.

However, KUCCPS clarified that Nursing, Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy programmes are currently unavailable and will only reopen for the September intake.

At Kenya Utalii College, available programmes include Diploma in Housekeeping and Laundry Management, Certificate in Front Office Operations and Certificate in Housekeeping and Laundry Operations.

The programmes are open to KCSE candidates who sat examinations between 2000 and 2025.

To support applicants, KUCCPS said it has deployed career guidance officers to 23 KMTC campuses countrywide. The agency has also partnered with the Huduma Kenya Secretariat to provide placement support services across all 59 Huduma Centres nationwide.

Under the partnership, Huduma Kenya Universal Service Agents have been trained to assist students with KUCCPS applications and placement services.
