Kevin Lugalia has credited his side’s attacking strength as the key factor
behind their return to the national title.
The new champions edged arch-rivals Friends School Kamusinga
on penalties to reclaim the crown, which they had previously lost to former
winners Musingu High School.
Lugalia said their aggressive approach in front of goal
proved decisive throughout the tournament.
“Our attack was lethal and other teams found it hard to
stop. That was basically our strategy, to outscore the opponent, and we are
happy it worked for us to win the title,” he said.
Despite the victory, Lugalia acknowledged the high level of
competition in this year’s championship, noting that all teams that qualified
for nationals were strong opponents.
“The level of competition was very high this time round.
Every team that qualified for the nationals had a lot of quality, so we had to
take each game seriously,” he added.
Looking ahead, the tactician says the team’s focus now
shifts to the East Africa Secondary School Games set for August in Arusha,
Tanzania, where they aim to reclaim the regional title.
“We have won it before and our aim is to win it again. We are not going to relax, we will continue training hard as we prepare for the tournament,” he stated.
