Traders in Lolgorian area in Trans Mara South in Narok County are counting heavy losses after a fire destroyed their businesses.

The traders say the night fire started at a hotel before spreading rapidly to nearby shops, including clothing stores, mobile phone outlets and electronics businesses, among others.

They add that although they managed to put out the fire with the help of security officers who arrived at the scene, nothing was salvaged.

They are now appealing to the government and other well-wishers for assistance, saying they are left uncertain about their next steps.

On his part, area police commander Enrico Telewa said no injuries were reported in the incident, adding that the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
