Linda Mwananchi group wants action taken against police who disrupted Narok rally

Led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, the leaders accuse the police of continued harassment during the Linda Mwananchi rallies, saying they are acting against the law. 

Despite sustained attempts by police, including lobbing teargas at the crowd, the rally went on.

“Stop selling us fear; we are not leaving Narok,” said Senator Sifuna. 

“Police, stop this nonsense,” remarked Siaya Governor James Orengo. 

An angered Babu Owino and Edwin Sifuna accused the government of frustrating them during their meet-the-people tours.

“It is impossible that everywhere we go, you follow us with teargas; it is impossible...” said Sifuna. 

During the Narok Town rally, they questioned the whereabouts of former Cabinet Minister Raphael Tuju and demanded his immediate release.

“We have seen that our brother Tuju's whereabouts are unknown... who has kidnapped Tuju?” posed Babu Owino. 

The leaders' tour in Narok comes a few days before the party's NDC in Nairobi, with Team Sifuna planning a parallel conference.

"Sisi tumeamua Ruto one term,” said Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi. 

"It is shameful that Raila Odinga’s party is now at the hands of those who did not believe in him,” remarked Orengo. 

In Mombasa, ODM leaders from the Coast are pushing for the party to be given the Deputy President slot.

“We have said our irreducible minimum is the Deputy President position for ODM,” said Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir

“And I have the capability and the intention to one day be the President of the Republic of Kenya,” added Mining CS Hassan Joho. 

In Siaya County, ODM party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga received blessings from the Luo Council of Elders who hosted him at the Kango Ka Jaramogi.
