Residents of Laikipia County have been cautioned against buying uninspected meat, in a bid to prevent zoonotic diseases following a spike in cases of poaching in the country.

According to Laikipia County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri, four suspected poachers who have been supplying zebra and antelope meat to several butcheries in Laikipia North, have been arrested and are awaiting arraignment for illegal poaching.

Additionally, the commissioner called on residents to partner with security agents, in identifying those behind the sale of game meat to unsuspecting traders.
