Speaking to journalists in Mombasa after his team’s final training session ahead of the encounter, Zico said his players were motivated and ready to build on their recent victory over KCB FC.
Despite Bandari’s mixed start to the 2026/2027 season, the tactician insisted his team would not underestimate their opponents, adding that implementing their training-ground preparations would be key to securing all three points.
“The players are motivated for the match. If we implement what we have worked on, there is no reason we should fail to get maximum points. Every player knows what is expected of him in every aspect of the game,” said Zico.
The former Harambee Stars coach expressed confidence in his squad, highlighting the importance of combining young talent with experienced players as they seek consistent results in the league.
“We have blended young and experienced players, and you know how important that combination is. The experienced players bring calmness to the team, while the young players bring the energy that is important in modern football,” he added.
Posta Rangers endured a difficult start to the campaign, losing 1-0 to Shabana FC before suffering a heavy 5-1 defeat to Murang’a Seal. However, they bounced back in their previous outing with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over KCB FC.
Bandari FC, meanwhile, began their campaign with a goalless draw against AFC Leopards before sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw with 3K FC at Mbaraki. The Dockers then suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Gor Mahia over the weekend, leaving them searching for their first win of the season.
Zico, however, warned against placing too much emphasis on previous results, insisting that Wednesday’s encounter would be decided by the performance of both teams on the pitch.
“For us, we will not look back at their previous results. We will focus on what we can do on the field. It will be the 11 players Bandari field against our first eleven, and the 90 minutes will decide the outcome,” he said.
Posta Rangers will be without key players Caleb Alilo and David Leon for the Mombasa encounter. Nevertheless, Zico remains optimistic that his squad has enough depth to cover the absentees and maintain their momentum as they pursue a second consecutive league victory
