KPA, Thunder set for KNBL final showdown

KPA completed their clean sweep against Equity Dumas with an 82-56 victory in Game Three on Saturday at Makande Gymnasium in Mombasa.

The Dockers had earlier won the opening two games 87-56 and 102-87 at Nyayo Gymnasium in Nairobi to book their place in the final.

KPA coach Robert Mugabe credited teamwork and energy for their impressive run, saying the team will now regroup and fine-tune their preparations for the championship showdown.

“What worked for us was teamwork. The energy was there, and we worked together both defensively and offensively, which gave us the edge.

“Now that we are in the finals, we have to regroup, make a few adjustments and be ready to go by the weekend. This achievement is good for the team and for me personally, but I hope we can finish the job by winning the championship.

“The boys are ready, and we are fully focused on competing in the finals.”

Thunder, meanwhile, booked their place in the decider after completing their sweep of Stanbic Shields with an 88-65 victory in Game Three at Nyayo Gymnasium.

The champions had won Game One 82-65 before posting a 91-67 victory in Game Two.

The final promises a battle between two of the league's established sides, with the opening two games scheduled for Makande Gymnasium in Mombasa this weekend.

The series will then move to Nyayo Gymnasium in Nairobi for Game Three, with Games Four and Five to follow if required.
