Garissa's Jarajila Ward MCA, Noor Sheikh, the knife-wielding man caught on camera chasing people inside a restaurant, has issued a public apology for his behaviour.

The MCA at the centre of a grim drama at Albeik Hotel in Garissa has had the opportunity to reflect on his actions and has a message for Garissa residents who either were at the scene or got to watch him.

Noor says he acted in self-defence after being threatened by two individuals moments earlier.

According to Noor, the confrontation began with an altercation in the restaurant's parking area before escalating inside the establishment.

He maintains his actions were provoked, but has chosen to apologise.

"I'm now apologising to the people and the customers. It was not in bad intention; I was only defending myself..." he stated.

Noor was captured on CCTV storming the hotel premises armed with a knife, chasing customers and causing chaos inside the popular eatery.

The incident, which occurred last Saturday, has since gone viral, prompting the county legislator to publicly defend his actions.

The MCA, who says he served in the military for 27 years, described himself as a disciplined individual with a clean record.

Police have confirmed they are investigating the matter. The lawmaker has already recorded a statement, and authorities have collected CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts as part of their ongoing probe.

"Investigations are at an advanced stage..." Area Police Commander Samuel Boit said.
