Kitui Teachers College student fights for her life after alleged attack by lover

The suspect, reportedly a teacher at Katumbu Primary School, is accused of assaulting the student with a hammer before stabbing her multiple times in the head with a knife, leaving her with life-threatening injuries.

According to reports, the man allegedly forced the student to his house, where an argument ensued before the violent confrontation.

The suspect is also reported to have attempted to set his house on fire before stabbing himself.

He is currently receiving treatment at Kitui County Referral Hospital, where the student is also admitted in critical condition.

The victim's mother, Angeline Mbula, said she travelled from Makueni County to Kitui after receiving information about the incident, only to find her daughter in a coma.

Mbula described her daughter as well-behaved, revealing that she had no knowledge of her relationship with the suspect.

The student is reported to have known the man for approximately 10 months before the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged attack, including what triggered the confrontation, remain unclear as investigations continue.
